I am a firm believer of using a Bucket List. I have found that it helps me direct my life with autonomy and purpose.
A Bucket List is a list of things that you would like to achieve before we depart from our human existence. It includes places to visit, people we would like to meet, new experiences, attaining achievements and accomplishments.
Daniel Pink wrote in ‘Driven’ that people are motivated by Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose. These lead them towards better performance and sustained efforts.
Using a Bucket List led me to my personal and professional achievements, travel, new visions, new connections, and making changes.
In the past year, I have written two books, completed my second Boston Marathon, secured new sponsors for my endurance-sports, achieved new business opportunities, and renewed old friendships.
These were new experiences and memories that I earned and learned from. I have also initiated a few processes related to my writing, and I have begun work on my third and fourth books, and seeking a publisher. Having completed my second Boston Marathon finish (in an improved time over my first), I am now focused on preparations for my 20th Ironman triathlon.
I wish you similar successes, and enjoy your Journey through your own design. Remember to apply your SMART goals, so as to achieve some of these dreams and goals earlier.
